Funny...

Conservative MP Tom Lukiwski, a member of the Commons standing committee on procedure and affairs, wants Mark Mayrand, the Chief Electoral Officer, to read between the lines of Bill C-31. You see, even though the law actually says nothing about Muslim women reveiling their faces, and even though everything Mayrand has mandated accords strictly with the law, Mayrand is in the wrong for not reading into the law so see what it actually meant. You know, like judges do...

Amazingly hypocritical. But then, that seems to be the general modus operandi of this government.
What equally disturbing and disheartening that this dodge ball scheme to get MsM and public talking 'muslim women and their democratic-denying veils' instead of a CON scheme to shuffle advertising money from their national level to the local one, managing to recoup some rebate in the process, is working.
The Vancouver Sun again had a front page story 'Elections Canada boss won't back down over Muslim women's veils' and a 2" summary, under the mini-head 'Election-expense hearing ends in confusion' of the true scandal.
We're becoming the Americans we love to mock...

There clearly are some lessons in order for the committee members in basic theory about the writing and interpretation of laws. Mayrand did himself proud by holding his ground.

That said, I can't agree with you on the point about Conservative election financing. The jury, so to speak, is out on this practice and it's worth waiting to see what is ruled. I think there are merits on both sides of the argument, and I am willing to let a judge decide.
